A Properly Piped Shop is of Prime
Importance for a Premium Finish.
On the surface it may not seem like a significant factor in turning
out a quality paint job, but the plumbing of your shop's air lines
is very important. Correct installation is necessary for optimum
performance of your equipment.
Correct air line piping is so important because it can reduce
contaminants in your air supply by up to 75 percent. Reducing
contaminants to the filter also reduces the frequency of filter
replacement, maintenance, and most importantly, reduces the
risk of contaminants in your paint job.
The following chart and diagram will help you reduce pressure
drop in your air lines and help reduce contamination in your
paint job.

Guidelines to Piping Your Shop
• Always use flex hose from compressor to piping
• Allow 20' minimum between compressor and
refrigerant dryer
• Run header pipe in a full loop
• Eliminate unnecessary tees and elbows
• Take drops from the top of the header pipe
• Drops should be as close as possible to the point
of application
• Slope the piping to accessible drain points
